Check Out Our Accomplishments

                                                                          FAREWELL 2008

Were you ever asked by a friend, “What does the Wesley Memorial Church do?”

As we say goodbye to the year 2008 let’s take a minute to answer that question with a few of our accomplishments in the last year.

  • We celebrated one full year being yoked with the Vernon Methodist Church, sharing our Pastor Roberta with that congregation.
  • Cooked approximately 104 meals for Helping Hands which serves an average of 10 people biweekly.
  • Volunteered at the Friendship Kitchen 12 times, preparing food for an average of 60 clients each month.
  • Began our Natural Church Development with 13 people meeting weekly and 7 prayer warriors.
  • 14 members attended the WOW Seminar in November.
  • There are two representatives from our congregation serving on East Hartford Interfaith Ministries.
  • Held Spaghetti Supper fund raisers 12 times with approximately 100 people attending each month.
  • Continue a positive relationship with The Pentecostals sharing our building.
  • Held a very successful Tag and Craft Fair in the Spring.
  • Maintained an active Sunday School program with 12 children for the Children’s Day Program in June
  • Purchased and installed a brand new organ – paid for entirely by donation.
  • Installed air conditioning in the Sanctuary – cost shared by The Pentecostals.
  • United Methodist Women held a Harvest Fair in October.
  • Enjoyed a very successful Christ’s Birthday Party with 83 people attending, 19 children in the Pageant and a wonderful performance by “The Puppets”.

We also:  enjoyed 52 coffee hours after Sunday Service; continued our Mission Programs; held our annual Turkey Dinner; held monthly services at Riverside Convalescent Facility; held Prayer & Praise meetings on the first Sunday of the month; our choir continued to enrich our service each Sunday.

All of these things were, of course, in addition to the day-to-day business of running the church, Committee meetings, cleaning on Saturday, maintaining the grounds, etc.

So next time someone asks, or you think to yourself,

“What do we do?” think about these accomplishments and                            WELCOME            2009

know that the answer is ….“WE DO A LOT!”
